Lake Lodge is located on the high bluffs overlooking Sandoval Lake,
within the protected Tambopata-Candamo Reserve of southeastern Peru.
Internationally famous as the site of the world's greatest lowland
concentrations of birds and butterflies, Tambopata offers an exciting and
unique Amazon experience.
The Giant Otter or "river wolf", hunt for fish in Sandoval Lake for an exciting display of one of the world's rarest and most endangered mammal species. Blue-and-Gold and Red-bellied Macaws inhabit the flooded palm forest on the west end of Sandoval Lake. Brown Capuchin, Bolivian Squirrel, Red Howler, Saddle-backed Tamarin, and Night monkeys live in the forests surrounding the lake.

| Day 1 | Reception at the airport and transfer to Wasai Maldonado
Lodge. Short visit of the town. Transport by boat to the Lodge at the
bank of the Madre de Dios River. Welcome and lodging in comfortable
bungalows with a nice view of the river. Small walk to know the
surroundings until lunch. Brief rest. Trekking through the jungle. During
the walk you will see huge trees and a great biodiversity. Guides will
give an explanation of the tropical ecology and will answer any question.
After around two hours, return to the lodge to enjoy the sunset at the
riverbank of the Madre de Dios River. Free until dinner. Nocturnal options: recreation at the lodge, search of caimans in river or nocturnal trekking. |

| Day 2 |
Breakfast
. Around 10 am. Transport to the Sandoval Lake. Your luggage will be send
to your rooms at Wasai Maldonado Lodge. Visit to the historical ship of
Fitzcarrald on the way. Continue our trip by boat until the access trail
to the Lake. 5 Km. hike to the banks of the lake. We will have the
opportunity to observe the great diversity of species of flora in this
zone and maybe a troop of monkeys or other animals which live in the
Reserve. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying
the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as
kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique prehistoric looking birds) monkeys,
etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant otters which live
there. Lunch in the canoe or in a typical local lodge. After lunch we
will have the opportunity to fish piranhas and swim in the lake. Prepare
yourself for an spectacular sunset.It is time to begin our return hike to the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado. There we will stay in the modern and comfortable bungalows of WASAI Maldonado Lodge. After dinner we will be able to rest or go around the town on foot, bycicle or motorcycle. We can enjoy the swimming pool and its cascade surrounded by verdant vegetation. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming town. |

Itinerary 4 day Tres Chimbadas and Sandoval lake
| Day 1 |
Reception
at the hotel and transfer to Wasaí Maldonado Lodge where you will be
welcomed with a delicious tropical Juice. Accommodation in your room. You
will then receive a short explanation about the tour in the Amazon forest
.. Free time until lunch to visit the tropical city of Puerto Maldonado
and to make the last minute bought. After lunch we will embark in a motor
boat to the Sandoval Lake, We will arrive to the lake after a guided
trekking of 3 km. At a perfect time to enjoy the exceptional beauty of
this lake and its great biodiversity . It is remarkable the return of a
large quantity of parrots and macaws to theirs nets in the top of the
palm trees located at the bank of the lake. If we are lucky we will find
the family of giant River Otters which live in the lake. At night we will
search for caimans and then return to our Lodge at Puerto Maldonado.

| Day 2 | Very early, after breakfast, we will leave to the Ese 'Eja Indian Village, there we will embark in a motor boat to make a boat river trip of 40 minutes until the access to the lake Tres Chimbadas. We will hike for 2 miles with a guide observing the flora and fauna. In the lake we will pass the day exploring the banks walking in the net path and paddling in the lake. Lunch in the refuge, this lake offers the best possibilities to observe giant river otters, demonstrative piranhas fishing. In the night search for caimans. Overnight in the refuge. | |
| Day 3 |
Very
early we have a new chance to paddle in the lake to observe the noise of
the awakens of wildlife and search for new contacts with the wildlife.
Return to the refuge for Breakfast and return to the Tambopata River to
take our motor boat to go to the Indian Village of Ese 'Eja people.
Transport by road to Wasaí Maldonado Lodge at Puerto Maldonado. Lunch
and rest of the afternoon free, you can enjoy the swimming pool just
beside the river or go for shopping to the handicraft's store .Fare well
dinner. Overnight in Wasaí Maldonado Lodge. |

Itinerary 3 day Tambopata Macaw program
| Day 1 |
Reception
at the airport and transportation to the WASAÍ Maldonado Lodge, where you
will receive a welcoming tropical fruit beverage. You will embark for a 3
to 4 hour motorboat trip up the Tambopata river to WASAI Tambopata Lodge
& Research Center (box lunch on board). During the trip into the heart of
the rain forest we will be able to observe clouds of butterflyes,
typical Amazon communities , while groups of birds pass over the boat and
animals such as capybaras turtle and caiman. Reception and accommodation
at Wasai lodge.Introductory walk to understand rainforest ecosystems and see some of the amazing trees . Return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner we will return to the river to search for caimans ( type of alligator) . We will enjoy diverse sounds of the jungle which will accompany our first night in Amazonia. Sleep in the lodge. |

early (4 am) and travel up the Tambopata River for an our and half to the
Bahuaja- Sonene National Park. You will see a magical sunrise and it is a
great opportunity to see animals such as capybaras, tapir , Jaguar, and
deer in the surrounding virgin forest. We will observe ( from a save
distance) one of the greatest spectacle of the rainforest: Hundreds of
parrots, parakeets and macaws of various species, enjoying their diet of
mineral salts on a river bank. We will have a hot drink and a snack
whilst watching birds and go for a short walk to look for animals such as
monkeys. We will return to the lodge to have a late breakfast and
afterwards we will make the return trip in boat to Wasai Maldonado Lodge,
in Puerto Maldonado.and enjoy a tasty lunch .After we will leave and travel for twenty minutes to down the Madre de Dios River , them walk for a an our in the forest to the Lake Sandoval, a beautiful oxbow lake. There we will board a wooden canoe to paddle around the lake to see wildlife such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins ( unique prehistoric lookingbirds), monkeys, etc, If we are lucky we could see the family of giantriver otters, wich live at the lake. You will have the opportunity to fish piranhas and swinm in the lake. Prepare yourself for a spectacular sunset. We return at nigth looking for nocturnal wildlife along the trail and them in boat back to puerto Maldonado. There we will stay in the luxurious Wasai Maldonado Lodge and enjoy dinner. |

Itinerary 4 day Tambopata Macaw program
The trip is full of adventure, with possibilities to find wild animals and the most attractive landscapes: The amazing macaw clay lick "collpa" in the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park and the wonderful Sandoval lake in the Tambopata - Candamo Reserved Zone. This program includes walks through the heart of the reserved area of Tambopata Candamo and the Bahuaja Sonene National park.

at the airport and transportation to the WASAI Maldonado Lodge, where you
will receive a welcoming tropical fruit beverage. You will embark for a 3
to 4 1/2 hour motorboat trip up the Tambopata river to WASAI Tambopata
Lodge & Research Center (box lunch on route). During the trip we will be
able to observe the local farms, while groups of birds pass over the boat.
Opportunity to see families of Capybaras, the largest rodents in the
world. Reception, accommodation at the lodge, and lunch. After a short
rest we will have a brief introductory walk in the forest nearby to learn
basic principles of ecology and hear some wildlife natural history Return
to the lodge for dinner. After dinner we will make our first visit to the
forest to observe the nocturnal life of insects, frogs of various colors,
and an occasional encounter with nocturnal mammals. We will enjoy the
diverse sounds of the jungle which will accompany our first night in
amazonia Sleep in the lodge. |

| Day 2 | wake early (4 am) and travel up the Tambopata River for an our and half to the Bahuaja- Sonene National Park. You will see a magical sunrise and it is a great opportunity to see animals such as capybaras, tapir , Jaguar, and deer in the surrounding virgin forest. We will observe ( from a save distance) one of the greatest spectacle of the rainforest: Hundreds of parrots, parakeets and macaws of various species, enjoying their diet of mineral salts on a river bank. We will have a hot drink and a snack whilst watching birds and go for a short walk to look for animals such as monkeys. We will return to the lodge to have a late breakfast, and rest. After lunch we will enter the verdant jungle on a special trail to observe wild life. We will then enter the territory of peccaries, deer, and others, with the possibility to hear or see the tracks of them, or discovering a troop of monkeys traveling through the forest in search of food. Time permitting, we will be able to enjoy a relaxing swim in the cascade of the cat. After dinner we can make another trip through the jungle, search for caimans or relax in our lodge surrounded by exotic nocturnal sounds. | |

Puerto Maldonado where we will relax in our bungalows and enjoy a tasty
lunch. After lunch we will leave and travel for twenty minutes on the

typical rainforest lake . 5 km hike to the banks of the lake. There we
will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the
landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons,
hoatzins (unique pre historic looking birds) , monkeys, etc. If we are
lucky we could see the family of giant otters which live at the lake. We
will have the opportunity to fish piranhas and swim in the lake. Prepare
yourself for a spectacular sunset. It is time to begin our return hike to
the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado. There we will stay
in the modern and comfortable bungalows of WASAI Maldonado Lodge. After
